WROC offers on site bone densitometry scanning. DEXA scanning is used to diagnose osteoporosis and to monitor the effects of ongoing treatment.
Our state of the art GE Lunar Prodigy system provides a highly accurate measure of bone mineral density of the spine and hips, and of the forearm, if required. Our physician will discuss the results of your DEXA scan and recommend a treatment plan specific to your medical history and risks for osteoporosis and fracture.
You are recommended to wear loose clothing on the day of your scan. Please avoid clothes that have zippers, belts or buttons made of metal. As DEXA scans utilize an enhanced form of X ray technology you will need to inform your physician or X ray technologist or nurse if there is any possibility that you may be pregnant.
